I realized how easy it was to change the obi inside, so I decided to buy one.

At first, I planned to hang it on the wall, but I realized it looked great on top of the shelf in my Japanese-style room. So I quickly changed the location, and it fits perfectly.
For now, I'm displaying the celebratory kimono my older sister wore when she was three years old. In the future, I'd like to display old obi and undergarments that I can no longer wear.
I was told that the mat color could be customized and was shown samples. After much deliberation, I chose basic white this time.
Since changing the mat color can completely transform the atmosphere, I'm now considering purchasing black, gold, or silver ones as well.

I was searching for a wedding gift for my niece who lives abroad. I wanted to give her something Japanese that would reflect her roots, and that's when I discovered this product.
At first, we considered giving her tea ceremony utensils. But then we thought, "She grew up overseas, tea ceremony items might not feel very relevant." Since she was very close to her grandmother, we decided to frame my mother's obi instead. We knew she would truly appreciate and cherish it.

The obi I framed this time was my mother's, featuring large paulownia and chrysanthemum motifs.
I chose it because the paulownia has long been a symbol of marriage, prosperity, and dowry. In the past, it was customary to plant a paulownia tree when a daughter was born, and to use its wood for a chest of drawers at her wedding.
I think my mother would be happy to know that her obi became a wedding gift for her granddaughter. My niece was truly delighted. She said, "I was surprised to receive such a wonderful gift! Thank you!"
I entrusted the obi to the shop and asked them to ship it overseas. The cost was much lower than I expected, which allowed me to stay within my budget. Since I don't get to see my niece very often, I'm glad I got to celebrate her wedding with a special gift.

I don't know much about kimonos, so I was surprised to learn that the obi they selected was for a men's yukata. I didn't expect an obi to look so stylish.

I placed it on a large book stand, and it really added a nice accent to the room. The frame itself has a simple design, which makes it perfect for displaying a clean, minimal men's obi. It strikes just the right balance without drawing too much attention.

I placed it in the entrance hall. This particular obi was so bright that I couldn't wear it daily, so it had been put away, but now I'm happy that I can use it again.
Since obis are pieces of clothing, if you leave them lying around, they just look out of place, and I always worry about them getting dirty or deteriorating. That's why I think using them as decorations is such a wonderful idea.

I also remembered the custom-made kimono and undergarment my mother wore as a child, which had been stored away for years. Since they were the same size as an obi, I thought they might fit perfectly in these frames.

I framed my mother's childhood kimono, and it fit perfectly.
Because it was a child-sized kimono, I couldn't wear it myself, and I couldn't bring myself to cut it up to remake it into accessories.

I had been thinking about the obi that was custom-made for my daughter's Coming of Age Ceremony. It had been sitting in my dresser for a long time. Since I'd heard that selling kimonos and obi usually brings almost nothing these days, I started thinking about framing it instead.
