Meaning of the Obi Pattern

This obi is a finely detailed reproduction of a work by Yokoyama Taikan, one of the great masters of modern Japanese painting.

The obi features Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan.

Its wide shape has been associated with prosperity for future generations and business success. The name Fuji also evokes the ideas of "one and only" and "immortality," making it a symbol of good fortune, wish fulfillment, and enduring prosperity.
For centuries, Mount Fuji has been revered as a sacred peak, believed to protect against misfortune and invite happiness.

Known as the "painter of Fuji," Yokoyama Taikan created more than a thousand images of the mountain throughout his life.
Inspired by the magnificent sea of clouds seen from Mount Tateyama, he continued to paint Mt. Fuji until his final days. That same artistry is now expressed in this obi's design.

It is a refined piece well-suited for formal occasions.
